José Victorino Chaves married Juana María Padilla, daughter of Pablo Mariano Padilla and María Antonia Tafoya, 15 May 1822 at Isleta. Their padrinos were Manuel Chaves and Juana Chaves. They received a dispensation to marry because they were second cousins. Juana María Padilla was baptized 23 Oct 1785 at Isleta with padrinos Manuel Lucero and his wife María Bárbara Montoya. Juana María (37), legitimate daughter of Mariano Padill and late María Antonia Tafoya, the widow of her first husband, José Manuel Armijo. Father José Ignacio Sánchez forwarded the proceeding to Durango on 4 Feb 1822. On 15 Mar, Bishop Castañiza granted a dispensation of the basis of angusti loci and assigned as penance that the couple would confess and take communion three times more than required by Church precepts during the year and kneel to recite on decade of the rosary for three days. He ordered the priest in Isleta to publish the banns three times. Assuming no new impediment arose, he was to marry, granting the nuptial blessing.

On 28 Mar 1799 in Belén, Father Bernal baptized José Victorino, born in los Padillas on 23 Mar, the legitimate son of Domingo Chaves and María Manuela Aguirre, españoles and citizens of that jurisdiction. Padrinos were José Pino and Juana María Baca.

On 23 Oct 1785 in Isleta, Father Bernal baptized Juana María, born in los Padillas 17 Oct, the legitimate daughter of Mariano Padilla and María Antonia Tafoya. Padrinos were Manuel Lucero and wife, María Bárbara Montoya, citizens of los Padillas.

FAther Sánchez certified that Domingo Chaves had given his permission for his son, José Victorino, to marry Juana María.
