Juan Antonio Montaño and his family settled in Santa Fé upon their return to New Mexico. After his death, his wife, he moved moved to the Rio Abajo. Their known sons were José, Juan and Lucas. Three of their daughters, Leonor, Magdalena, and Juana, married three Durán y Chaves brothers, Luis, Antonio, and Nicolás, respectively.

Magdalena married Antonio Durán y Chávez, son of Captain Fernando Durán y Chávez and Lucía Hurtado de Salas, about 1706 in Río Abajo, Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España.²⁵² (Antonio Durán y Chávez was born about 1678 in Sandía Pueblo, Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España, died in 1738 in Villa de Alburquerque, Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España ²⁵² and was buried on 12 Apr 1768 in Villa de Alburquerque, Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España ⁵⁰⁹.)
