Juan Bautista Pino was a traveling merchant from Mexico City who resided in the vicinity of Isleta Pueblo and Rancho de San Clemente as early as 1747. It is not known if his wife, Petra Teresa Dávila y Calle, came with him and his two adult sons, likewise merchants and traders, who make mention of their parents later on. His two sons were Joaquín José and Mateo José.

According to records found by Francisco Sisneros in the marriage banns for Mexico City at the Asunción Cathedral, Juan Bautista Pino (ONMF: 258), native of Albenga, Italy and the son of Juan Bautista Pino and María de Domingo, registered marriage banns with Petronila Teresa de Ávila y Calle, native of Mexico City and the daughter of Juan Joseph de Ávila and Francisca Pérez de la Calle (Herencia, vol. 8, no. 1, Jan. 2000; p. 2).
