He extended his territories southwards but died in battle against the Friesians, 18 September 993.
Arnoul married Luitgard of Luxembourg, daughter of Siegfried I de Ardennes Count of Moselgau and Hedwig Countess of Luxembourg. (Luitgard of Luxembourg was born in 960-965 and died 13 or 14 May 1005.)
